GOAL:
What are file names ending in .gid.
GOAL:
Files created on PC when accessing a Help file (.HLP)
GOAL:
Files not shipped by Progress.
FIX:
According to Microsoft:
Files of this type are hidden files generated by the Help engine when a search is performed in a Help file. These .gid files contain the indexes displayed on the Index tab of the Help Topics dialog box.
In any Windows application, the user creates a .gid file when accessing Help and then creating an index. The index .gid file is built any time an animated graphic of a pen writing in an open book is displayed to the screen.
