SYMPTOM(s):

Visual cue and accelerators are not displayed by default in toggle boxes and radio buttons.

If the tab key is pressed, the visual cue is shown.

If the Alt key is pressed, the accelerators are shown.

FACT(s) (Environment):

In version 9, both, visual cues and accelerators where displayed by default.

Windows XP
OpenEdge 10.x

CAUSE:

This is expected behavior on Windows XP. Focus cues aren't displayed until an action is performed using the keyboard. This is true of all applications which use the XP Themes interface. OpenEdge started using the XP Themes interface in version 10.

FIX:

This behavior can be changed in the Display control panel:
Open the Control Panel and select the Display panel.
Switch to the Appearance tab and click the Effects button.
The "Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key" check box controls this behavior. Uncheck the box to make the focus cues always appear.
