How to keep OpenEdge from installing Microsoft Java?
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.x
Windows
FIX:
Some installations have to ensure that they do not have Microsoft Java installed for compliance reasons. In which case, the following method may be used to install OpenEdge without installing Microsoft Java.
The OpenEdge installer runs the Microsoft installer program named msjavx86.exe. Once it is run there is no entry in Add/Remove programs to uninstall it, and an uninstaller does not seem to exist either.
Therefore, the easiest way to have the OpenEdge installer not launch msjavx86.exe is to copy the OpenEdge distribution (ESD, CD or DVD image) locally and then remove <target>\3party\msjavx86.exe since the installer will only launch it if it exists.
