Statement on double-byte ( DBE ) support for Report Builder
This knowledgebase is a statement of support policy for Report
Builder in regard to double-byte (DBE) functionality.
Progress Software's development groups for Report Builder and DBE
have stated that as of Version 9 and earlier, Report Builder does not
support double-byte (kanji fonts.) Report Builder was
not engineered with any consideration for double-byte, nor
was quality assurance carried out for DBE capabilities.
While this does not mean that there will be problems whenever kanji
fonts are used with Report Builder, it does mean that Progress
Technical Support will be unable to provide assistance when problems
with DBE are encountered.
If customers wish to develop their reports only on tools that
officially support double-byte, they should speak to their sales
representatives to find a solution that best fits their needs.
