IA-64 is not a processor it is the internal architecture of the Itanium processor.
IA-64 (Intel Architecture-64) is a 64-bit CPU architecture developed by Intel and Hewlett-Packard for processors such as Itanium and Itanium 2. Progress certifies an Operating system level running on a particular CPU type. So any certification of Progress or Sonic on HPUX Itanium processors is using IA64 architecture.
