SYMPTOM(s):

Error (11073) when connecting to MS SQL Server database

Cannot load enhlog library: <lib-name>. Logging is disabled. (11073)

Failed to connect to the <db-type> database. (6142)

FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows
OpenEdge 10.1C
Customer has another shared directory which is accessible by all users (e.g. \\PATH\subdir\OE101c)

This is a netsetup installation, client connection is made from one machine, the schema holder and the OpenEdge installation are on another server.

DLC in the registry is set to a shared Directory (e.g. \\Path\$d\subdir\OE101c)
Error only occurs when connection attempt is made with a non-Admin user

Connection works fine if a user with local Admin rights is used

CAUSE:

The regular user did not have permissions to the shared directory \\Path\$d\subdir\OE101c

FIX:

Change the DLC settings in the registry to point to the mapping that the users have access to, we do not look at the DLC set in the progress.ini for any DLL's that we need to load.

Alternatively change the DLC in the ini file stored on the server and the uninstall/Netsetip (or just ini2reg to update the registry). You should then be able to change it in the registry automatically instead of having to update the registry manually.
