CHANGE:
The Java version was upgraded from Java 1.4.2 to Java 1.5 which uses a different algorithm to determine the default memory for a java processes.
CAUSE:
The Java algorithm used to set the jvmargs defaults for Java 1.5 is different than the algorithm included with Java 1.4.2. The newer version of java, Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode, defaults to higher memory values than the earlier version of java.
FIX:
This is expected behavior of Java 1.5
