SYMPTOM(s):

Connection failure error from prowin32.exe session when closing Architect

Connection failure for host <host_name> port <port> transport <transport_name>. (9407)

Connection failure for host localhost port 3333 transport TCP. (9407)

FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows
OpenEdge 10.1x
OpenEdge 10.2x

CAUSE:

It is possible that if Architect crashes or is terminated via the Task Manager that a default Progress window may appear with a connection failure message for port 3333. This is the port that Architect uses to communicate with the Progress session behind the scenes.

FIX:

If Architect was terminated via the Task Manager this message is expected since the normal shutdown process was not allowed to happen. If Architect was terminated via Task Manager you should use Task Manager to terminate the prowin32.exe session that is displaying the message.

If Architect crashed, look at the file named .log that is located in the directory named .metadata which in turn is located in whatever directory you are using for your workspace in Architect. This log file should give you insights as to why Architect crashed. If it is not obvious from the log file why Architect crashed please open a support call with Technical Support and send us the .log file.
