CAUSE:
When Java application was deployed the Open Client Runtime (O4GLRT.JAR) was unzipped and deployed as part of the customers application directory structure. Over time the customer moved forward to newer versions of OpenEdge on the server side but never updated the files that make up the Open Client Runtime on the Java client application side.
FIX:
Replace the existing files from the old O4GLRT.JAR file with the files from the version of the O4GLRT.JAR file which corresponds to the version of OpenEdge that is being run on the server
