GOAL:
What is the oraenv.lg & buildenv.log files
FACT(s) (Environment):
Oracle DataServer
Progress 8.3x
Progress 9.x
FIX:
Beginning with Progress 8.3A, when a Probuild is performed to create a Progress Client or a Remote ORACLE DataServer, a log file will be created.
In Progress 8.x, the log file is named "oraenv.lg" and in Progress 9.x, the log file is named "buildenv.log". These logs are located within same directory where the link script exists, (i.e., ldpro).
These log files contain important information about DataServer configuration. This file along with the link script will be created in your current working directory.
Many of the details found in this log file will help provide the customer, technical support or development with specific details about the customers configuration. These details are important in those cases where the PROBUILD of a DataServer executable has failed or where the customer is seeing unexpected behavior when running a newly created executable.
Example of the log file:
Progress V8 PROBUILD Environment: Thu Oct 1 14:46:53 EDT 1998
