SYMPTOM(s):
Aloaha PDF Saver ActiveX control
Use of Horizontal Scrollbar of Aloaha PDF Saver ActiveX causes strange behaviour
Aloaha PDF Saver ActiveX is placed within a Progress window and a PDF file is loaded
Clicking on the right-hand arrow of the ActiveX control's horizontal scrollbar
Right-hand arrow disappears
Horizontal toolbar of the control is rendered inoperative
Problem does not occur using default Progress 9.1x installation
Problem does not occur a default Microsoft Visual Basic 6 application
Problem does not occur if the PROWIN32.EXE.MANIFEST file is removed/renamed
Problem occurs if the PC is switched to use the Windows Classic Theme
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.x
Windows
CHANGE:
Upgraded to OpenEdge 10.x
CAUSE:
This is a bug in the Aloaha PDF Saver ActiveX control relating to the use of a .MANIFEST file, which causes the application to use the Windows XP Look & Feel.
The problem does affect Progress 9.1x and Visual Basic 6 applications if they are configured to use a .MANIFEST file which they do not do by default. If a .MANIFEST file is added to either product then the same behaviour will be observed with the Aloaha PDF Saver ActiveX control.
FIX:
Option #1
Contact Aloaha Technical Support
Option #2
Disable the PROWIN32.EXE.MANIFEST file (located in DLC\bin) by renaming it.
The application will now have a Windows Classic Look & Feel but the Aloaha PDF Saver ActiveX control will work as expected.
