SYMPTOM(s):
AppServer broker fails to start with error 8297 after a new installation of Progress in same version was performed in another directory and then removed
Unable to start <service name> (8297)
No broker or server log files are created
FACT(s) (Environment):
Copy the Progress scripts exists /usr/bin after installation
UNIX
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
CAUSE:
Incorrect configuration was being used to start the Appserver
FIX:
Follow the steps:
1) Remove or move all Progress scripts existents in /usr/bin
2) Set DLC correctly to the old installatiion directory
3) execute $DLC/bin/proenv script
4) Restart AdminServer
5) Restart AppServer
