GOAL:
If I install a new version of OpenEdge should databases from another version be shut down?
GOAL:
Do I have to shut down databases from all OpenEdge versions when installing a new version?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge 10.x
Progress 9.x
FIX:
No, the databases from other versions do not need to be shut down. Only if you are updating an existing version by adding products or a service pack would you have to shut down the processes for the version of OpenEdge that you are updating. For a new installation into a new directory, it is not necessary to shut down OpenEdge processes from other versions.
