GOAL:
How to avoid running out of disk space while notes are written into the AI files during crash recovery?
GOAL:
Is it supported to move the AI extent to a backup directory (e.g. on a different disk) by using a symbolic link and later, after the crash recovery has completed, to copy it back to its original location and delete the symbolic link?
GOAL:
Can the after image moved to the backup directory by using a symbolic link and later copied back to the original location ( not linked location ) after the transaction backout in single user mode is done and after the ai file is emptied?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
While this might work this has not been tested, hence it is not supported by Progress.
One would have to permanently store the AI files on a disk that has more space available in order to prevent any disk space issues.
