RTB: Loading or Preserving Data at a Deployment Site.
You would want to use the data procedures - _update.w will
automatically run them.
Data Procedures are designed to preserve data across data type or
extent changes. They are used for both workspace schema updates and
deployment schema updates. Read chapters 4.5.8, 4.5.9 and 4.13.1 in
the Roundtable User's Guide.
Data Procedures are handy for deployments because they will automate
the preservation of data or loading of data when you install the
deployment at the customer's site (removing the need to manually
dump and load data at the customer's site).
There is one manual step that you must perform when packaging up
your deployment that uses data procedures (it is not documented
because it is a bug in v8.2C). The data procedures are created in
your workspace/rtb_temp directory. They need to be placed in your
deployment/rtb_temp directory so that they are part of the package
being sent to the customer's site.
