SYMPTOM(s):
Getting 2256 errors during periods of high disk activity.
SYSTEM ERROR: User died during microtransaction. (2256)
Disk related to database files 100% busy during observed period.
Task manager indicates large amount of IO (primarily reads) by a non-Progress process.
FACT(s) (Environment):

CAUSE:
A program, pbeagent.exe, was incorrectly configured causing large amounts of IO to the disk drive and network subsystems of the machine.
This program is part of the APC (American Power Conversion) utility to check if a system is alive, it was configured to scan for a non-existent machine and was causing unnecessary IO.
FIX:
Stop the unnecessary IO which is over-utilizing the disk drive the database is resident on.
