GOAL:
Why would the compile option be disabled in Architect?
GOAL:
Why does Architect disable the compile option?
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.x
Windows
FIX:
The compile option in Architect can be disabled under the following circumstances:
1) The underlying Progress session that Architect starts up failed to start.
2) The underlying Progress session started up normally but then crashed (possibly some 4GL code that was run caused a crash).
3) The underlying Progress session is currently busy running some code.
4) The underlying Progress session is displaying a message box. You must respond to the message box before execution can continue. This is a variation of #3 but worth mentioning separately because it is possible that the message box will have become hidden behind other windows on the desktop and you may not realize it is there. Using Alt+Tab to flip between windows will help in bringing it to the foreground.
