Apptivity - Premature client timeout inactivity Oracle

Apptivity - Possible premature client timeout due to inactivity when
using Oracle

Some customers using Oracle have reported that their deployed
Apptivity applets timeout prematurely, apparently due to inactivity.
Note that by default an Apptivity client (applet) should never time
out due to inactivity.

Oracle disconnects the connection for a data source after some
period of inactivity on the part of the client (related to a
particular data source). There may be some way to set the interval
on the Oracle side so that the connection is not dropped.

There is an Apptivity setting that should be considered if this
issue appears to be occurring for a deployed applet which
runs against Oracle. The data source setting is "release
connection". If you turn on "release connection" for a data
source, Apptivity will re-connect to Oracle for each requery
rather than trying to re-use a possibly dropped connection.

Dropping of connections due to inactivity is more likely to occur
in applets which are used to query data, where few or no updates
occur.
