Not Enough File Space When Installing on Windows NT
When installing Progress Version 8.x to very large disk drives on
Windows NT, the installation software occasionally will report
that insufficient disk space is available:
INSTALLATION ERROR(148):Out of disk space
In fact, there will be 4 gigabytes or more of space available. The error apparently occurs because the routine that calculates available disk space does not accurately handle very large numbers.
This is a known bug, the cause has been identified and it will be
fixed in Version 9. In the meantime, a workaround fix is to
temporarily fill up part of the disk drive. For instance, you might
copy C:\WINDOWS\*.* and all subdirectories under that to the large
drive. Then the disk space calculation used in Progress' installation
software will calculate the correct numbers and you will be able
to perform the installation in the normal manner.
After the Progress installation is complete, you can delete the
temporary directories that you created previously. The error occurs
only during installation, not during normal operation.
