Results - How does it select fields for default labels ?
In Gui Results, when a user selects the label view, there's an
option for letting results generate a default label or you may
select a custom label.
For the custom label, it allows the user to select from the
database table the fields you can use for the label.
If you select the default label, Results will use the MATCHES function
to select the field according to the Label field selection.
To change the Label field selection you:
->Choose Query -> Site Admin -> Label Field selection
This will display 10 possible label fields for default selection.
You can set up your own label selection parameters, but there are
some considerations:
- the order of field names is important. Once Results finds a
Match it will stop. So if you wanted two fields (eg fname &lname)
get fname and lname to show up in name this would NOT work
because it would stop after the first find.
- There's also precedence relationship to consider
- For multiple tables, Results will search on the LAST specified
table and work it's way up, ending with the first table.
Once you make your changes, it will write it to the QC7 file.
( You could make this change outside of Results, by editing the .qc7
file, removing the existing fastload files, .r's)
