FACT(s) (Environment):
UNIX
Progress/OpenEdge Versions
SYMPTOM(s):
Getting error 354 trying to start _progres when temp files are defined by -T to be written to NFS mounted drive.
Unable to open or create <filename>, error <number>. (354)
Unable to open or create lbiKDMKXu, error 2. (354)
CAUSE:
The permissions of the directory on the physical machine the directory is located do not allow the owner and group of the Progress executable located on another system to write to the directory.
FIX:
Make sure to check the user rights, group rights and potentially netgroup rights between multiple systems when using NFS mounts.
In some cases /etc/exports may be used to define permissions to the mounts.
In some cases /etc/hosts.equiv may be used to govern what rights or equivalent rights a user or group has between multiple machines.
The owner and group of the Progress / OpenEdge executable(s) are the user and group which must be given permission to the NFS mount.
