SYMPTOM(s):
Why doesn't text searching find my attribute values in my e-commerce index?
CAUSE:
In order to text search a column, it must be in a text query or in the data query and be defined in indexer field searchable columns. In order to do numeric searches (= < >) the column must be in a text query or in the data query and be defined in indexer searchable columns. In order to do a text or numeric search without identifying the column name, the column must be defined in default columns.
Attributes are no exception to these rules. Not all e-commerce customers choose to search using attributes; some customers want attributes for navigation purposes only. In order for attributes to be text searchable they must be set up as described above.
Categories are an exception to these rules.
