Extended characters are displayed as UTF-8 values.
Extended characters entered via the keyboard are entered as UTF-8 values.
The database uses the Western European iso8859-1 code page.
The client and broker use the Western European iso8859-1 code page for -cpinternal and -cpstream.

CAUSE:
The LANG setting of the xterm emulator is set incorrectly to UTF-8.
FIX:
Correct the emulator configuration to use the correct code page setting.
