GOAL:
How do remote users display in promon?
GOAL:
Why are there no user names for some entries in promon?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge Category: Database
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
FIX:
When users remotely log into a Progress database there are several ways their identity may be displayed from promon.
In promon, using the User Control menu (option 1 when entering promon),
remote users will be displayed using their operating system logins if there are no entries in the database security table which define user accounts.
If users have been defined within the database which the user is connecting to and the user supplies a valid login and password, then the userid supplied by the user will be displayed in promon.
If users have been defined in the database and the option for "Disallow Blank User" has not been activated, the users may avoid entering a user and password at the login screen. These users will display as blank entries in promon.
Depending on what user compiled the r-code, the blank user may or may not have access to run the code or view data.
