OpenEdge 10.x
OpenEdge 10.1x
SYMPTOM(s):
AppServers remotely connected to database are disconnected after long periods of idle time.
Firewall exists on network between AppServer machine and database machine.
CAUSE:
Firewall hardware and software can, depending on the capabilities of the hardware or software, sense the activity of the ports the firewall is monitoring.
Some hardware/software firewalls allow administrators the ability to define idle or inactivity limits after which time the firewall will drop the connection.
FIX:
Adjust the firewall to remove or increase the limits on the length of time the AppServer port can remain inactive before it will be automatically timed out.
