GOAL:

What is -align?

GOAL:

What is the new prorest option -align used for?

FACT(s) (Environment):

All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge 10.1B

FIX:

A new PROREST argument, -align, has been added to indicate that a LINUX backup
(created with a 10.1B release prior 10.1B02) is being restored. Use this
argument on a 32-bit LINUX system to restore a 10.1B backup made on a 64-bit
LINUX system.

If this is used on a 64-bit LINUX system the code restores a 10.1B
backup made on a 32-bit LINUX system. The updated 10.1B02 syntax for PROREST is:
prorest db-name device-name { -vp | -vf | -list | -align }
This argument should only be used when a 32-bit LINUX system is restoring a
version of the 10.1B 64-bit LINUX backup, or when a 64-bit LINUX system is
restoring a version of the 10.1B 32-bit LINUX backup. This argument has no
effect when restoring a backup made by a 10.0x or 10.1A release or when run on
any system other than LINUX.
This argument must not be used when restoring a 32-bit 10.1B LINUX backup on a
32-bit LINUX system or a 64-bit 10.1B LINUX backup on a 64-bit LINUX system.

If used incorrectly on a LINUX system an error message indicating a cluster size
mismatch between the source and target will be displayed and the restore will be
aborted.
