SYMPTOM(s):
GUI SQL Explorer won't start on new installation of Progress and error listed in jvmstart.log indicates "Create process failed."
WRKDIR environment variable is set correctly in proenv shell.
DLC environment variable is set correctly in proenv shell.
Attempted to repeat the last command executed as detailed in jvmstart.log which is listed next to CmdLine =
CmdLine = (wjview /d:java.security.policy=C:\Program Files\Progress\java\java.policy "/d:Install.Dir=c:\program files\progress" -ms8m com.progress.vj.sql.explorer.SQLExplorerGUI )
The attempted execution of the command line failed with statement:
Failure attempting to execute (wjview)
Error starting JVM, error 2.
The system cannot find the file specified.completed
sqlexp -char starts without error.
CAUSE:
The Microsoft JVM is required for the GUI version of the SQL Explorer.
The Microsoft JVM component wjview was not found when trying to launch the GUI SQL Explorer.
FIX:
Install the Microsoft JVM from the Progress installation CD.
The msjavax86.exe located in the 3party directory on the CD is the installation program for the Microsoft JVM.
