Kbase P125399: procedure with transaction block does not increase the transaction counter in PROMON

Status: Unverified

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x

SYMPTOM(s):

A procedure file containing a transaction block is executed.

The code does not contain any record statement.

Database is monitored via PROMON Locking and Waiting statistics option.

The process related to the running code has the "Trans" value (number of transaction locks issued) at 0 (zero).

CAUSE:

This is an expected behavior.

FIX:

A transaction lock is issued for the duration of a transaction only when a record is deleted. If the transaction is ultimately done or backed out, the record is not deleted.
