SYMPTOM(s):
Unable to remove an extent from a Replication target database
Message when running prostrct remove against a Replication target database
You must use the proutil truncate bi command before doing a remove. (6953)
Truncating the bi file of a Replication target database is not permitted
Access to database target not allowed. The database is enabled for site replication but either replication is not running, or this process is not authorized to open a replication enabled database. (10356)
CAUSE:
The Replication documentation incorrectly reads that prostrct remove can be used against both a source and target database. Since removing an extent requires the bi file to be truncated, prostrct remove can only be run against a Replication source database.
FIX:
In order to re-structure the replication enabled target database, it will have to be re-created from scratch against a copy of the source database. Please refer to your internal Disaster Recovery plan for specific instructions.
