GOAL:
Why do I see loads of PURG chain entries with NOLK flag and dead transaction in promon, record locking screen ?
GOAL:
What is the meaning of a dead transaction state in promon ?
GOAL:
What is meant by the entry of dead for tran state in promon's record locking screen?
GOAL:
What does a dead transaction mean?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge 10.1X
FIX:
A transaction state of "Dead" means that a transaction has completed -- could have been committed or rolled back, but its transaction table entry has not been removed yet.
The existence of a lock in the purge chain tells us that the transaction performed a record delete.
Starting in OpenEdge 10.1x this locks are no longer removed at transaction end.
Locks on the purge chain do not cause lock conflicts (NOLK lock flag) and are removed only when the user disconnects from the database.
