Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
UNIX
OpenEdge 10.1x
WebSpeed 3.x
SYMPTOM(s):
Webspeed Transaction Server running on 64-BIT platform
Remote development of WebSpeed Applications from windows using the 64 bits platform.
Button for remote development not available when using the OpenEdge Architect.
.r 32 bits incompatible with .r 64 bits.
CHANGE:
User migrated from Provision Plus to OpenEdge Architect.
CAUSE:
Progress removed the remote development button, because in the Architect the proposal is to work with a project approach, where the resources are under a specific directory, and the remote development mode is not compatible with this way of working.
FIX:
To run the applications developed under the Architect on a 64 bits server, do the following:
1 - Move the source code to the server and compile under the server environment.
2 - Or, downgrade the Transaction Server to 32 bits, which allows the .r code produced under windows to be runnable on the server. Doing this, the Transaction Server will not be able to connect the Database using shared memory.
