SYMPTOM(s):
Message 13228 on database log file
<time> - The buffer pool is being flushed: buffers remaining. (13228)
CAUSE:
This message occurs during shutdown process. The reason is because Progress has to write all modified buffers from the database to the disk. If all the users are disconnect but still some modified buffers remaining, this message will be written. Usually, it does not means any error or inconsistency. It is just an alert that the shutdown process still going on, unless the number of remaining buffers does not decrease in the next occurrence of this message. Sometimes this error may be related to some out of space issue occurred in the BI file and the Database tried to shut down itself.
FIX:
Verify if the environment are not out of space in BI file: all extents are used or not available disk space.
If it is the case, do the follow:
1 - Force the shutdown com -F
2 - Provide more space for database bi files.
3 - start the database
Some transaction may be never committed to the database, and so, some data may be lost.
