Recently Discovered OpenEdge Architect Editor Issue
GOAL:
OpenEdge Architect Editor corruption
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.1B
Windows
FIX:
Dear Valued Partner and Customers,
Progress Software has recently become aware of an issue within the OpenEdge Architect product.
The items below reference the recently discovered issue. In addition, it highlights the solution that describes the problem in full.
The editor corruption is a result of multiple threads in OpenEdge Architect updating the same list of offsets in the current document at the same time. Eclipse does not make access to the list that keeps track of the offsets thread safe. As a result, one or more of the entries in the list becomes null when it shouldn't. If using a dual-core or a hyper-threaded processor, then the behavior is more likely, but it can still happen with a single-cpu processor. P123696, "The OpenEdge Architect Editor is corrupted in 10.1Bx as result of multiple thread processor"
This issue will be corrected in OpenEdge 10.1B02 and 10.1C.
