SYMPTOM(s):
New install cores when running progress executables
Database can be started
Cannot probkup online
Can run idxbuild
Cannot run idxfix online
Cannot run prostrct create
SYSTEM ERROR: Memory violation. (49)
Stack trace from <executable> reads:

ldd $DLC/bin/_dbutil finds all libraries
permissions on executables are correct
CAUSE:
Corrupt _dbutil Progress executable. Most probably caused by copying the DVD/CD media locally then distributing to the VM/servers via scp without (say) md5 checking.
FIX:
1.) Stop all running Progress processes
2.) uninstall Progress
3.) re-install directly from DVD/CD media or from sum checked copy with root (on UNIX) /Local Administrator (on Windows) rights.
