GOAL:
What happens when the source machine runs much faster than the target when using OpenEdge Replication ?
GOAL:
What happens with OpenEdge replication if the Source DB host has a much higher performance than the target database one ?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge Replication 10.x
FIX:
It will depend on the number of transactions and how constant is the flow of transactions that are generated by the Source database.
In such a situation you will require enough AI extent space to cope with a potential buildup and you will need to increase the -pica parameter for the replication.
If the Source machine is really too fast and there are consistently doing more transactions than the target may process, it will eventually slow down the source database at some point.
