GOAL:
Can the Java that SuSe supplies with their install be used to install OpenEdge?
GOAL:
Is the Java provided with SuSe the same one required by Progress?
FACT(s) (Environment):
SuSe Enterprise Server 9
OpenEdge 10.1A
FIX:
In the past the java supplied by SuSe did not work with the Progress Install due to the directory structure or version changes made to the java as supplied by SuSe.
Installation tests of OpenEdge 10.1A have worked using the java supplied by the SuSe Enterprise Server 9 installation. However, there have not been any certifications run against the SuSe java installation / configuration.
It appears that SuSe Enterprise Server 9 installation is providing the same Sun Java product that was certified by Progress, but at higher patched version, and appears to be the same product as would be downloaded from the Sun web site.
