Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
EasyAsk 9.5
SYMPTOM(s):
indexed dictionary is very slow to load into DataWorkshop or on server
FIX:
Index folder contains a large, cumulative personal dictionary. This file will grow each time a utility is executed.
example: dictionary = abc.dxp in folder abc_Files file abc.PD
Open the dictionary in DataWorkshop, go to Tools, Update Spelling Dictionary, click on close.
This will clean up the personal dictionary. EasyAsk 9.6 will automatically do this each time a dictionary is loaded. If the dictionary cannot be opened in dataworkshop, the PD file can simply be deleted.
FIX:
Dictionary has a long log of updates. Each time the dictionary is modified, an entry is written to this section of the dictionary
example: dictionary = abc.dxp
[EXPORT V1]
:Product Version: V9.5.358 - Wed 02-15-2006 11:57AM
:Export of C:\Program Files\EasyAsk\server\dictionaries\abc.dxp
:

Fri Jul 07 12:46:14 EDT 2006 - Checkpoint

Open the dictionary in DataWorkshop. Go to dictionary editor, Properties, General. The description box contains a line for each update. Delete all these lines and click on OK. Save the dictionary and all these lines will be removed. If the dictionary cannot be opened in data workshop, a text editor can be used to delete these lines.
EasyAsk 9.6 only retains the 10 most recent updates in the dictionary.
