Actuate Report Server and X windows on UNIX
INTRODUCTION:
=============
In the installation notes for Report Server on UNIX it states:
The account running a Unix Report Server must have access to a
machine running X windows and an X windows server.
WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS:
===========================
If you are going to use graphs in your reports, you need this.
PROCEDURAL APPROACH:
====================
The third party software package that we use to generate graphs on
Report Servers requires the X Server to be installed on the same
machine.
The requirement for the XServer is for image or graph generation on
Report Server. If you have a report that will generate output with
graphs or with embedded images, you can run this on your Developer
Workbench. However, if you want to run this report on a UNIX Report
Server, you need to install an XServer package on the UNIX machine.
The other option is to run this report on a WindowsNT Report Server
where a X Server package is not required.
