SYMPTOM(s):
Operating System backup initiated.
VMWare backup initiated.
Database in Mulit-user Mode.
errno=9 reading PROMSGS file, it may have been deleted
errno=4 reading PROMSGS file, it may have been deleted
"unable to format message number 5520"
CAUSE:
Performing an Operating System Level backup while the database is in use.
File descriptor pointer is getting lost
FIX:
Do not backup the Progress database files while the database is in Multi-user mode.
Excluded all database files from the Veritas, VMWare or other system backup utilities or prior to running the system backup issue a proquiet against the database.
