We are proud to announce the release of OpenEdge 10.1B. This new and exciting release builds off and compliments OpenEdge 10.1A by making our customers even more productive - with a focus on large scale data management.
The OpenEdge 10.1B platform is built for the small to mid-size enterprise customers that have large, data intensive business problems. In this release customers are offered enhanced data storage capabilities to accommodate larger numbers of transactions and high volumes of audit records. Specific enhancements for data management include: 1. Very large table support to grow database tables to trillions of rows, assuring customers their data is always available and accessible
2. Increased storage areas to 32,000 making it easier to maintain and scale large databases
3. Enhanced shared memory to effectively store and execute against huge datasets without forfeiting system performance
4. Support for large key entries so that international enterprises can leverage multi-byte Unicode characters furthering their global competitive edge
5. Enhanced DataServer utilities to easily manage enterprise data across disparate data storage devices
In addition to these data management advancements, OpenEdge Architect was built on top of the latest release of Eclipse (3.2), enhancing the ability for developers to extend the development platform to other popular development tools. This release also offers further enhancements to its ABL object oriented extensions improving code reuse and strengthened support for interoperating with other object-oriented applications.
A new and improved debugger enables multiple projects as well as multiple instances of a single project to be debugged simultaneously, thereby simplifying troubleshooting. And for complex application projects that need to connect to multiple databases the OpenEdge 10.1B release offers database connection unification capabilities. This connection enhancement enables developers to connect, administer, and query multiple auxiliary databases using ABL or SQL right from OpenEdge Architect.
