FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.1A
SYMPTOM(s):
Running a large query from OpenEdge Architect.
OpenEdge Architect does not indicate it is still active.
CAUSE:
In 10.1A, the Run button in the toolbar initiates a run in the OpenEdge session and does not wait for it to finish. No message or progress bar is shown while it is executing.
FIX:
A wait to tell that the OpenEdge session is busy is by trying to run another program, in which case, the message, "The OpenEdge runtime is busy. Run cannot be performed at this time." is shown. However, there is no specific UI element that indicates that the session is busy.
In 10.1B, the Run button initiates a run in the OpenEdge session, and waits for it to finish, because we publish an after-run event. During the execution, a progress bar is shown in the status area.
