Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
SYMPTOM(s):
Report Builder
Trying to print to Microsoft Office Document Image Writer via the Report Engine
Report Engine hangs
Error appears when killing the PRORE32.EXE process:
Printer initialization error (check available memory)
Problem affects all interfaces: PRINTRB, PRNTRB32, TABLE
Removing spaces from the printer name has no effect
Shortening the printer name has no effect
Specifying the port in RB-PRINT-PORT results in the error:
Specified printer is not installed or specified port is not available
Report Builder Designer can print to the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer without problems
CAUSE:
It would seem that the Report Engine cannot handle the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer prompting for user-intervention to save the .MDI file that is generated.
As Report Builder is now a Mature product, no further bug fixes, enhancements or add-ons will be provided.
FIX:
Set the RB-PRINTER-PORT parameter to ? to force the Report Engine to prompt the user to select a printer.
The Microsoft Office Document Image Writer will work properly when selected from the printer list.
