The database field popup does display when 'if tablename.' is typed into the edit pane
CAUSE:
Bug# 20060203-010
CAUSE:
The parenthesis, bracket and squiggly characters where not being properly handled for auto completion
FIX:
Upgrade to OpenEdge 10.1A01 or later
