FIX:
It is possible to just upgrade your OpenEdge database to 10.1A without enabling auditing. Doing so will allow you to leverage the new identity management and runtime permission checking only. You would still be able to leverage some of the sample code supplied but a lot of the code is focused also on auditing and these aspects would clearly not work in this configuration.
To just upgrade your database without enabling auditing you would issue the following command:
proutil <db> -C updateschema
