Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1x
OpenEdge 10.x
Windows
SYMPTOM(s):
Changed editor settings in Options -> Editing Options
Changes are not saved
CAUSE:
No access rights on ProEdit directory.
This can happen for example, if the EditorConfigPath is set to the Progress installation directory and this directory is write-protected to ensure the executables are not overwritten by accident.
FIX:
To address this issue, check where the editor configuration is stored by checking the EditorConfigPath setting in the Startup section of the INI file/registry key.
Then, either ensure the directory referred to has write access, or change the reference to a different directory.
Note that continuing the example above, it is not advised to set the EditorConfigPath to the Progress installation directory. By doing so, the backup measure of having the default settings in a separate location is lost.
