Report Builder Engine Hanging while previewing a report
Report Builder Engine Hanging while previewing a report:

In some circumstancies, we have noticed that the Report
Engine provided with progress Version 8.* (especialy 8.2c)
might simply hang when displaying reports on the screen. It
seems to occur especially under win95 or win NT.
This can occur when the report contains a picture (.bmp).
By removing the picture from the report and running again the
same procedure calling the Report Engine in preview mode you
will then have the result on your screen.
If this is your case, this issue is due to the color
resolution defined on your machine.
Indeed, the Report Builder Engine can not display on the
screen a report that contains a .bmp with a different color
palette than the one currently in use on your machine.
Consequently Report Builder will hang when attempting to
display the picture.
This issue could mainly occure if on your OS, In the control
panel -> Display -> Settings:
The color palette is set to 256 Colors.
The best solutions to avoid this Report Builder behavior are:
1- Remove pictures from the reports
2- Increase the color palette to a higher resolution.
