GOAL:
How to print the contents of an external file in Progress on UNIX?
GOAL:
How to print an image file using Progress 4GL?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
UNIX
FIX:
There is currently no feature to print an external file or image using the Progress ABL natively.
On UNIX systems (including GNU/Linux), usual file types can be printed using a third party command-line utility. If the Operating System provides such functionality, the standard printing command "lp" or "lpr" can also be used for any file type and converts them automatically for the connected printer.
All command-line utilities, including "lp" or "lpr", can be used using the OS-COMMAND or OUTPUT THROUGH statements.
For more information about the available utilities able to print external files, see the Operating System vendor documentation.
