SYMPTOM(s):
Changes in RESULTS Admin module do not show up for all users
User or administrator makes a change through the Administration Module such as module or query permissions, printer setup
Changes do not always show up for other users
CAUSE:
This happens for one of two reasons:
1. The other user is running with a different .qc(7) file than the one that was updated.
2. The other user is running with old fastload files.
FIX:
1. If the other user is running with a different .qc(7) file than the one that was updated, do the following:
There should only be ONE .qc(7) in a multi-user environment. Everyone should be using the same .qc(7) file. If there are other .qc(7) files in users working directories or anywhere else in the PROPATH they should be deleted. The one main .qc(7) file is created in the directory that contains the database. If the database is on another machine the .qc(7) file is created in the current directory. It can be moved anywhere in the PROPATH.
2. If the other user is running with old fastload files, do the following:
When a change is made in the Administration module the .qc(7) file and the fastload file(s) in the same directory are updated with the new information. Fastload files in other directories are not updated with the new information. If there are copies of the fastload files in users working directories or anywhere in the PROPATH they should be deleted or replaced with the new version. To force the fastload files to be updated or to test if that is the cause of the problem delete the fastload files and go into the .qc(7) file and remove the lines fastload = xxxxx. Then startup Results. Removing that line from the .qc(7) file forces Results to read configuration information from the .qc(7) file and not from the outdated fastload files.
Fastload files are compiled versions of the .qc(7) file. When Results is started it reads configuration information from the .qc(7) file. If it finds the lines fastload = xxxx. it then continues by reading the files listed for fastload.
