OpenEdge 10.1A saw the introduction of the AI File Management Utility to provide a best-practice approach to administering ai files.
The relevant ai file management parameters (-aiarcdir, -aiarcinterval) and their values can be set in Progress Explorer in the "Other server arguments" box. The corresponding entries are written to the conmgr.properties file, e.g.
[configuration.database-1.defaultconfiguration]
database=database-1
displayname=defaultConfiguration
otherargs=-aiarcdir "D:\aiarcdir00,E:\aiarcdir01" -aiarcinterval 150
NOTE: The quotations are necessary if listing more than one directory for the -aiarcdir parameter. This is because the comma used as a separator in the list will adversely effect the Progress Explorer if the quotations are not used.

When using the AI File Management Utility ensure to have installed at least 10.1A01.
