FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows 32 Intel

SYMPTOM(s):

The default font is smaller when using an Asian (Chinese, Japanese) locale.

The font is smaller with an Asian multi byte locale?

The application Font is smaller after changing the Windows locale

CAUSE:

Asian Fonts are larger than Western Fonts since the characters are generally larger. Subsequently Asian clients tend to need a large point size specified for fonts in order to see a similar size Western character.

FIX:

Modify the fonts used for the application following those specified in the ini file for the Asian language.

When additional Asian languages are installed, in the language prolang directory there is a default progress.ini file suggested for that region. The ini file includes suggested fonts to use with this locale setting. Use the suggested fonts as a starting point for the application and add further fonts as required.
